UPDATE: After leaving this review Hiearcool quickly reached out to me to make it right and sent me a replacement unit. Now that I know that I shouldn't be charging devices in the USB ports I believe this one will last me a lot longer. I updated my stars to reflect the great customer service.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I got this for work as I needed to add two additional monitors to my MacBook and I wanted to have an ethernet port. This product worked FLAWLESSLY for about 2-3 months. Then one day I go in to my office and the power light is not on and both of my monitors are not connecting. I work in tech so I did all the troubleshooting I could, including trying with multiple Macs but it did not work.Reached out to their support and they were extremely responsive. They had me try a few other steps and then agreed to replace the unit and asked me to send the defective one back to them so they can figure out what happened. I did that and the new unit worked FLAWLESSLY again. This time only for a month.The good thing is the second time it stopped working I was working at the time. I had just plugged my phone in to the front USB to charge and after an hour or so I heard a small pop in the unit and my monitors disconnected. I disconnected my phone immediately thinking I just overloaded it. I unplugged everything from the unit and let it sit for a few days hoping it would reload and I'd be back in business. A few days later I plug everything in and the power light on the front stays on until plugging into my Mac. Once I plug in it starts blinking on and off and the monitors never connect.I reach out to support again and this time they are less responsive. They ask which port I had the phone plugged into and then informed me they do not recommend charging the phone in any ports on the docking station. I wish I would have known that before. They still have not let me know if they are going to replace it and it's been almost a month.All this to say if you get this, it will work great as long as you do not charge any devices other than the computer in the docking station. I hope this helps someone else not make the same mistake I did. I would love to see that added somewhere in the description for the product.*TLDR:*If you are looking for an "easy" 2-screen for your M1 Mac, this one works very well.4 stars because power issues could have been handled better.*Long reading:**IF YOU ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH DISCONNECT* - DO NOT ROUTE POWER THROUGH THIS DEVICE (more below)Bought this primarily to work with the 2022 M1 14 inch Mac.I have read the reviews about disconnects, but decided to chance it - I do not regret it.Device functions 99.9% as intended and is a great addition for anyone working from home using an M1 mac. I have two screens: one smart and one "old".Both work pretty well, although some fanegling was necessary - the smarter screen only accepted connection from 1st section of ports, not the 2nd tier. Still not sure why, but it worked with this block and not the other dongles I've tried - bonus.Within about two weeks I've noticed the device getting unreasonably warm and the disconnects happening.Note: The device was warm, but could not be compared to other dongles that would burn my hands while in use. All-in-all the temperature of this block gets a hard pass and a thumbs up in comparison to any other connector I've tried over the years, with or without power connected.Now a note on fixing those disconnects: Unplug the power - do not charge through this box.I know it might be inconvenient, but do not charge your mac through this block. Unplug that power and use the default mac charger that came with the laptop, or a dedicated USB-C cable that is not routed through this box.Once I've plugged in the power separately - have not had a single disconnect.You might say that it is inconvenient?In my case I've velcro-ed the two cables together and they are very convenient to plugin in.Other not really minus, but an "ahha" moment is the necessity of using the app. It is non-intrusive and non-power-hungry though. Only one-time hustle.Does work partially without the app, but not to the fullest.I used this to attach to the underside of my desk and hide all my connections to my laptops, monitors, network, USB things and audio. So, I only have to plug in a USB-C to the laptop and the desk is clear of multiple cables. It does just perfect for this job. Sometimes the monitors are not recognized, and I have to unplug the power and the USB-C cable and plug back in and everything works. Also wasn't getting full 1GB ethernet through the port so ended up plugging ethernet directly into the laptops with adapters. I think this is a limitation on bandwidth as I am running 2 monitors 1 4k and 1 1080. It does work just fine for work which is what I bought it for not for gaming
